Thanks - the output file shows
lxc-start 1351632919.916 NOTICE lxc_start - exec'ing '/sbin/init'
lxc-start 1351632919.916 ERROR lxc_start - No such file or directory - failed to exec /sbin/init
/sbin did get bind-mounted from the host - does it not have an init?
