I suggest you file a bug in launchpad.

I'm using 12.04 but with lxc from 12.10 (0.8.0~rc1-4ubuntu38, to be
exact) and lxc-unshare works fine. Perhaps you're using a different
version, or your liblxc0 is outdated?
