See my other mail, I had a similar idea, but a tiny bit more expansive.

Just a minor point: I wouldn't add a short option just now, IMHO it is
not completely clear what the best letter should be (the 'env' tool
uses -i to clear the environment, for example) - so for 0.9 we should
just add the long option and we may later discuss (when we don't have a
deadline we want to reach) what the best short option name should be.
