It depends on your definition as "stable".

One definition is to "see what ubuntu use on their latest release".
Ubuntu 14.10 uses lxc-1.1.0~alpha2-0ubuntu3.2.

Another definition is to "use whatever is on
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-lxc/+archive/ubuntu/stable", in which
case:
- they might still be doing some testing on lxc-1.1, or
- they don't have time to update the stable ppa yet
