+1 from me.  My first thought was conf first, then ad-hoc talks
presenting conclusions, but I think it might be more useful to
have talks the first day, make sure to have lots of q+a time to
gather community feedback, have an area where people can experiment
and give feedback, and then pull that feedback into the miniconf
the next day.
