Agreed. Additionally you could enable the package installers to provide
distribution specific configs, e.g.:

/etc/lxc/defaults
/etc/lxc/defaults/defaults.generic  # fallback
/etc/lxc/defaults/defaults.debian
/etc/lxc/defaults/defaults.ubuntu
...
