Agreed.  If we ever find time to design that, I'd also like to add
the concept of checking for upstream updates (i.e. to re-fetch
ubuntu-cloud tarballs when a new one is available), and to check
digital signatures.  The template should simply be able to define
functions which the template infrastructure calls if available.
