you sent the patch to the right persons :) you should add the 
lxc-devel at lists.sourceforge.net too (added in the Cc).

Good catch and thanks for the patch, I will take it.
Did you see the problem while reading the code or did you effectively 
failed to open the /proc/self/fd directory ? If so, is it possible to 
explain how it happens ?
